Android 8.0 Oreo update for HTC U11 is now available

There was no specific date. It was speculated on the possibility that HTC upgraded its flagship with Android Oreo during November, and it has been. And is that as they have shown the first users on Twitter, the update of the HTC U11 with Android 8.0 Oreo is a reality.

Currently, only a few models have the latest version of Android. Of course, we refer mainly to compatible Google Pixel and Nexus, although Sony also contributes its bit in the hand of the Sony Xperia XZ Premium. Not in vain, the latest Android statistics indicated that in November only 0.3% of devices had Android Oreo. However, this month a new team is added to the list.

Update the HTC U11 with Android 8.0 Oreo

The predictions were that the HTC U11 will be updated with Android Oreo during the month of November. However, the Taiwanese firm had not shown any evolution of the firmware development at any time. While we know that LG, Huawei or Samsung itself are in process with each Beta version of Oreo, HTC had not indicated anything about it.

That has not been a reason for Asians to show their commitment to customers. Although the firm is experiencing a delicate moment in the smartphone market, today some of the owners of the HTC U11 have seen how their computers have received a notice of OTA update availability.

To the surprise of the first lucky, it is the update of the HTC U11 with Android 8.0 Oreo. An OTA of 1.33 GB of weight that includes, in turn, the last patch of security of Google, corresponding to the month of November.

OTA initially available in Taiwan

At the moment, this update of the HTC U11 with Android 8.0 Oreo has been detected in Taiwan, the birthplace of the company. Despite the initial geographical limitation, the owners of the model outside the domains of the Asian country have reason to celebrate.

Since the hardware is exactly the same in all units of the HTC U11, with Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor included, it is expected that the dispersion of the OTA update to other regions does not take too long to occur.

Although the company has not offered details about it – just as it has surprised us with OTA in Taiwan – it is expected that Android Oreo will be extended to the rest of the regions in which the top of the range is marketed during the next weeks.
