Huawei updates its MateBook D notebooks to stand up to equipment with ARM processors

It is not wrong for this time to have options to give (or give us) and that seems to seek to achieve the manufacturers that throw a lot of new features to the market. Whether pure novelties or updates offer a wide range of options when choosing one or another product and electronics is usually the protagonist.

Televisions, smartphones, tablets or how we are now occupied, laptops, are protagonists of many of the gifts left by Santa Claus and the Magi.

And an updated laptop is the one announced a few hours ago Huawei, a launch that comes to compete in a market increasingly saturated. It’s the Huawei MateBook D.

The arrival of teams with ARM processors seems to have served as a trigger for “traditional teams” to update their proposals. And something like this Huawei has done with his portable computer, the MateBook D. A proposal within the range of large screen models.

Not in vain we are facing a computer that sports a screen with a diagonal of 15.6 inches mounted on an IPS panel with a Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. A screen that offers a maximum brightness of 350 nits and an NTSC color coverage of 45%.

Inside we find Intel Core i7 / i5 processors with Coffee Lake architecture accompanying a Nvidia GeForce MX150 graphics and an SSD storage capacity of 256 GB with 8 GB of RAM.

The new Huawei MateBook D features two USB 3.0 ports, a USB 2.0, 802.11ac Wi-Fi connectivity, an HDMI video output and two panoramic speakers. A team that promises up to 10 hours of normal use autonomy or 8.5 hours if we use it to play video.

These are the three available configurations :

  • Intel Core i5-8250U processor with 8GB, 256GB SSD, and MX150 graphics 5188 yuan (655 euros)
  • Intel Core i5-8250U processor with 8G, 128GB SSD plus 1TB HDD and MX150 graphics 5488 yuan (707 euros)
  • Intel Core i7-8550U processor with 8G memory, 128GB SSD plus 1TB HDD and MX150 graphics for 6688 yuan (859 euros)

In terms of design, we find an elegant and discreet design in aluminum with levels of only 3.2 millimeters and a weight of 1.9 kilograms. Follow the line of other proposals that we have seen so far this year, at least in the final section.

Price and availability

The Huawei MateBook D can be found in China now and we are waiting to know the plans for the brand to know if it will reach other markets. of 665 euros (i5-8250U + SSD 256GB), going through the 705 euros (SSD 128GB + HDD 1TB), until reaching 860 euros (i7-8550U + 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD)
