This year it has to sit – 10 years iPhone. This screams formally after a glorious keynote with features that the world has not yet seen. But as always, Apple remains silent. Luckily, there is the rumored kitchen, because there is now already an infinite amount of information about the new iPhone 8.
But which are true? And what is unlikely? Gismo Trends bursts through all rumors and brings all the news around one of the hottest smartphones of the year – the Apple iPhone 8.
iPhone 8: Does it appear as iPhone Edition?
The fact that in addition to the iPhone 7S and the iPhone 7S Plus 2017 another smartphone from Apple appears, insiders and experts agree. Only under what designation Apple introduces the particularly expensive and noble mobile phone number 3, the spirits separate.
In addition to the iPhone 8 are the names “Anniversary Edition” and “iPhone X” – both are references to the 10th anniversary of the brand.
A Japanese website now brings another option into play: One wants to have found that Apple the mobile phone under the label “iPhone Edition” on the market brings. This is not a fake, but the most expensive version of the Apple Watch came with this name.
iPhone 8: Release until the end of the year?
But that is by no means all that the Japanese want to know. So the iPhone Edition will not appear together with the other two models in September. Instead, a solo performance follows at the end of the year.
The reason for this could be that the development of the smartphone is still far from being completed. According to the report, Apple is still experimenting with several prototypes to find out which is best suited for mass production.
These should include devices with LCD and AMOLED display as well as variants with aluminum, glass and ceramic housing. Also, versions with and without home button are still in the race.
iPhone 8: 5.8-inch large OLED display?
For quite some time, insiders have said that the iPhone 8 will be equipped with a 5.8 inch OLED display. Now, the Japanese magazine Nikkei is speaking and supporting this thesis. So far, a 5-inch display had been used.
Now, the magazine wants to have learned that Apple actually screens in the size of 5.8 inches. The company from Cupertino, according to the report, relies on the high-contrast OLED technology.
In addition, Nikkei confirms that Apple next to the iPhone 8 two more models to the start. The iPhone 7S and the iPhone 7S Plus should be equipped with cheaper and technically weaker LC displays
iPhone 8: farewell to Lightning – comes USB-C?
The “Wall Street Journal” wants to know from a well-informed source that Apple is thinking about a farewell to Lightning. Accordingly, a USB-C socket is to be used instead. Whether the change already with the iPhone 8 comes to bear, however, is questionable.
Just recently, the AirPods were released and put on Lightning as a charging port. Therefore it should be – if at all – only at the iPhone 9 or iPhone 10 so far. Another rumor: Supposedly, the iPhone 8 comes with a 3D Selfie camera.
iPhone 8: Without Home button?
A few weeks ago, a patented patent already indicated that Apple could do without the iPhone 8 completely on a Home button. A theory that the analyst Ming-Chi Kuo now confirms according to a media report: A virtual “function area” is to replace the physical indentation of the key.
This should extend over the entire lower edge of the smartphone and be comparable with that in the touch bar of the most recent MacBook models. Depending on the context, different input options should be selectable – such as controls for playing videos or games.
Effective screen size would shrink
Sounds like an interesting concept, but it would also bring disadvantages. Thus, according to Ming-Chi Kuo, only 5.15 inches remained for the display of other contents by the insertion of the Function Area from the assumed 5.8-inch display.
Also remains unclear, as Apple, in this case, the previously touched in the home taste touch-ID function. For example, a fingerprint sensor that is placed directly behind the screen or even a new biometric identification method, such as facial recognition, would be conceivable.
Wireless charging technology on board?
A long time ago rumors circulated that the upcoming iPhone supports wireless charging technology; Foxconn employees had reported internal testing of the technology. Now Apple provides itself a hint for the possible use of the technology.
The company has now stepped quietly and secretly to the so-called Wireless Power Consortium (WPC), which develops the charging technology Qi: The membership overview of the consortium lists Apple as “Full Member”.
According to Apple, the group has joined the consortium to participate in the “open, joint development of future wireless wireless standards and to contribute ideas”.
iPhone 8 with glass housing and OLED display?
Further speculations have been pointing to an iPhone case made of glass for months. They seem to confirm: The well-known market analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, which was so far mostly correct with his predictions, assumes that the front and back of the iPhone 8 are made of glass.
Sharp CEO Tai Jeng-Wu seems to agree, he also publicly announced that Apple is obviously planning a new design.
