The Xperia XZ Premium can now play HDR content on Netflix

Although it has gone unnoticed by how little it is in the day to day, both LG G6 and Sony Xperia XZ Premium have something in common: the ability to play HDR content. This feature, for now, is very limited by the scarcity of content that can be seen in this quality.

So far only the LG G6 was able to watch Netflix play in HDR, but now Sony’s beast, the Xperia XZ Premium, will also be able to do so. Of course, we will clarify a bit the difference between these two terminals when it comes to playing Netflix HDR content.

The first thing that we are going to clarify is that the LG G6 can only reproduce the content in Dolby Vision, one of the standards of the HDR, although initially in its Netflix said that also could play content in Ultra HD (another standard of the HDR), but Then they corrected that point.

The Xperia XZ Premium, for its part, does reproduce content in UHD

For now only these two phones are the only ones that can play Netflix HDR content, although we do not rule out that the Galaxy S8 will join in the near future.

There are other devices, such as the Chromecast Ultra or the Nvidia Shield and Shield Pro, which can do this too but are not in the smartphone category.

In order to do that, you have to have the latest version of the Netflix app, the most current firmware on the device, the subscription of four screens and a connection of more than 25 Mbps.

In addition, in the Netflix application, you must change the quality Video to ‘high’. Are you willing to switch to the most expensive subscription to enjoy HDR content?
