Slowly Apple is beginning to introduce a highly anticipated feature in Apple Maps, the possibility to visualize the interior of some important and especially large public buildings.
For example, with Apple Maps on iOS 11, we can already see the interior of some airports and relevant shopping centers.
The interior maps give us detailed and accurate plans of large buildings. This is ideal for moving around and easily located if it is a place you do not know.
For now, this type of mapping is being deployed in the United States, so it may take a couple of months to arrive in Spain and other places.
Apple gave us some details about these internal maps in the WWDC17, specifically Craig Federighi in the inaugural keynote, you can see it in the following video at the time 1:07:00 approx.
To access these maps simply zoom close to the building or click on the View Inside button. The details it shows are interesting, for example at airports we can see where each terminal, boarding gates, bathrooms and even escalators are.
In shopping centers, stores are classified according to the category to which they belong and information on opening hours is provided.
As discussed earlier, internal maps will be limited to certain airports and shopping centers in cities such as Amsterdam, Berlin, Boston, Chicago, London, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Tokyo, Toronto and Washington DC. Apple said more locations will be added over time, but did not specify when.
