A few days ago Sony reported that it was improving its update policy, going from 18-month support to 24 months of updates, and this seems to have encouraged Samsung to improve its own.

Samsung, which already offered 24 months of support, seems to be following in Google’s footsteps and could offer three years of updates on its premium range models.

We say it could because Samsung still has not confirmed it, but the American operator T-Mobile if it informs on its support page that the Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge Plus and Note 5 will update to Android 8.0 Oreo.

It is unknown if it has been a T-Mobile errata, but if confirmed it would be the first time that Samsung updates a device with so much time.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge meet three years this February, the Galaxy S6 Edge + and Note 5 in August. Will Samsung start offering three years of upgrades in its high-end?

This week Samsung has begun to update to Android 8.0 Oreo its Galaxy S8 and S8 + and is already working on the update for the Samsung Galaxy S7.

We will be attentive to see if Samsung confirms or denies that information. If you upgrade the Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge + and Note 5 of T-Mobile it is possible that they also update the free model.

As of today, T-Mobile is still confirmed on its support page that the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Note 5 will receive Android 8.0 Oreo. You can check it in the following links:
