I had already received the certification from the Wi-Fi Alliance, everything indicated that it would arrive this month and yesterday we told you that the original date of May 18 had been ahead of some non-specific time of the first half of May.

What we did not expect is that Samsung released the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge today, just beginning the month, but it has been.

And with Android P just around the corner, and with an Android 8.0 that expands much slower than Google would like, the people of Samsung have decided to step on the accelerator and do their bit to end the dreaded fragmentation in Android, something that will be added, predictably, the Galaxy A8 next summer , a device that is also working very well since it was launched.

The update to Android 8.0 Oreo for the Samsung Galaxy S7 will be progressive

And is that this is nothing new, release a new update requires a computer infrastructure that could be saturated and lead to corruptions in the download if all units of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Edge version were updated at once.

On this occasion, the most fortunate are the citizens of the United Kingdom, who already have the update available for download. We must remember that to install this update we have two ways, one of them is to wait for the notification that it is available, and the other is to go to the phone settings and perform a manual search for new updates.

Thus, the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge join a select group consisting of the Galaxy S9, Galaxy S8, Galaxy Note 8 and some of the Galaxy A (2017), getting that the high and medium/high range of this manufacturer acquires a certain uniformity.

The firmware of Android 8.0 Oreo for Samsung Galaxy S7 comes under the names of G930FXXU2ERD5 (Samsung Galaxy S7) and G935FXXU2ERD5 (Edge version) and as always, includes the customization layer Samsung Experience 9 and KNOX in version 3.1. The update is done via OTA (On the air) and has a weight of about 1274 MB.

A remarkable detail is that Samsung includes with the update the last patch of security in April, so apart from a smartphone with more features (priority notifications, applications in floating window, greater fluidity, etc. ..) we can also enjoy a Galaxy S7 more secure.

From here we invite you to tell us when this update comes to your Galaxy S7 since Android 8.0 Oreo for Samsung Galaxy S7 should not take long to get to Spain, it may be a matter of hours.
