These would be the Samsung Galaxy that will be updated with Android Oreo

Android 8
Half a year after the official presentation of Android 8, it seems that Samsung begins to take seriously the launch of updates to the latest version of the system. While there are models confirmed by pure obviousness, there are other models that are on the line. Which Samsung Galaxy models will be updated with Android Oreo? The following filtered list tells us which phones and tablets have all the ballots.

At the end of last year, we witnessed the filtration of a roadmap with Samsung Galaxy models that would be updated with Android 8.0 Oreo. From that moment, it is only clear that the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 will receive yes or yes the new version of Android.

However, more evidence has emerged to help us expand the list of Samsung Galaxy that would receive Android Oreo in the coming months.

Samsung Galaxy models planned to receive Android Oreo

This time the information comes from the community of XDA, where they have managed to access the code of the latest filtering software of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. The great peculiarity of this is that it is the firmware that contains Android Oreo, the preliminary version in the form of Beta.

Thus, the most experienced developers of XDA have investigated in certain parts of the code -Framework- in which they have discovered an XML file with a pleasant surprise. It includes specific information associated with the hardware of some Samsung devices, as well as their references.

A track that if we contrast with the previous leak with alleged origin of Samsung itself, could leave us the most definitive list of models that will sooner or later receive Android 8.

The list is the following:

  • Samsung Galaxy A3 2017
  • Samsung Galaxy A5 2017
  • Samsung Galaxy A7 2017
  • Samsung Galaxy A8 2016 SM-A810
  • Samsung Galaxy A8 2018
  • Samsung Galaxy A8 + 2018
  • Samsung Galaxy J3 2017
  • Samsung Galaxy J5 2017
  • Samsung Galaxy J7 2017
  • Samsung Galaxy J7 +
  • Samsung Galaxy J7 Duos 2017
  • Samsung Galaxy J7 Max
  • Samsung Galaxy J7 Neo
  • Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime
  • Samsung Galaxy Note FE
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 8
  • Samsung Galaxy S7
  • Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge
  • Samsung Galaxy S8 Active
  • Samsung Galaxy S8
  • Samsung Galaxy S8 +
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 SM-T355
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 SM-T380 / T385 2017
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 SM-T580
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 2
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab E 8.0
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 SM-T825

As they clearly specify in XDA, the authors of the discovery indicate that there is a high probability that the models listed above are those that finally receive Android 8 as an OTA update.

However, it may also be the case that the list included in the XML file contains already confirmed models, but others may be present as possible candidates, in which tests could be performed to verify if their updating is viable.

So, this new filtration only serves to open our mouths, but it will not be final until Samsung is the one that announces an official list with compatible models.

Interestingly, this time the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge do not appear, when supposedly they were finally going to be updated.
