The manufacturers of accessories have not been slow: protectors for the HomePod base are already sold

Not even 48 hours have passed since it was discovered that the HomePod leaves marks on some woods with applied varnish and there is already a solution for it.

Well, actually the solution has always been there, and it is to be careful where you place the HomePod or put a protector under it. But taking advantage of the controversy, some manufacturers are already selling their own protectors.

While it is a common problem in varnish woods and it has been shown that it is not exclusive to HomePod, nothing has more hook than an Apple problem.

The capitalist spirit has taken advantage of this demand and manufacturers such as Pad & Quill have put on sale their own protector, or what is the same, coasters.

For $19.95 Pad & Quill offers a round leather base with the diameter of the HomePod, perfect to prevent vibrations and silicone from leaving a mark on the wood.

As a result of all the noise generated Apple has also updated its support page warning of the brands that may appear and how to treat them:

It is not unusual for any speaker with a vibration-damping silicone base to leave slight marks when placed on some wood surfaces.

The marks can be caused by oils that diffuse between the silicone base and the surface of the table and often disappear after several days when the speaker is removed from the wooden surface.

Otherwise, cleaning the surface gently with a soft damp or dry cloth can remove the marks. If the marks persist, clean the surface with the cleaning process recommended by the furniture manufacturer.

If you are concerned about this, we recommend that you place your HomePod on a different surface.

Should you buy this protector for the HomePod?

If you do not have anything better to do with $19.95 possibly yes. But the solution does not go through a leather protector, but to take into account that the woods are delicate and to place the HomePod on other types of surfaces.

In either case, the protector of Pad & Quill can now be reserved, and possibly emerge more in the coming days.
