For a few days, the Nintendo Switch is on the market and has come out of the starting holes as the fastest selling Nintendo console ever.

After the sales numbers of the Wii U, which were anything but exciting, one could see in many places something like pitiful looks when Nintendo announced to roll up the field with a new console. So probably the least believed that Nintendo would face the PlayStation and Xbox overpower again to a gaming heavyweight in the hardware area.

The Nintendo Switch could punish these critics, as apparently the console went off as the famous hot cakes, so that Reggie Fils-Aime – President of Nintendo America – could explain in the interview that one with the console the best hardware -Launch of the company’s history: Never had sold a Nintendo console better in the first days, he is quoted by Nick Wingfield of the New York Times:

We do not yet know the absolute numbers, which is one of the reasons why you should enjoy it with a little caution. Clearly, you get to the beginning on the plaster and the advertising drum stars, but really we can sort this statement just before when Nintendo sells hard sales numbers.

What we know, however, is that the Wii console, which was launched very successfully in 2006 – which Nintendo was able to bring over 100 million men or women in total – was 600,000 units sold after eight days. The success now celebrated by Nintendo, however, is the first sales weekend.

One factor is also the skeptics should also respect: the Wii came back then in November in the trading – so punctually at the time, in the world where the purse and credit cards are drawn for the Christmas purchases.

On the other hand, there is no comparable gift event in March, so for a consoles start, March is rather a dull, unstoppable month. This makes it all the more surprising that the sales should be so positive.

Personally, I would allow the Japanese that the sales are as great as claimed. Also, if you could never reach the once position again, it would be more than a pity if Sega would also disappear from the gaming hardware map. “Zelda: Breath of the Wild“, which also produced brilliant sales start as the best standalone launch title of Nintendo’s all time:

Especially in the games, Nintendo gets a lot of criticism to listen to, of course, not the great new Zelda game, but rather the fact that the number of available and upcoming games is simply too manageable. “Mario Kart 8 Deluxe” will soon be another hit, but until the next “Super Mario” game the fans have to wait until Christmas.

It will also depend on how the third-party players jump on this Nintendo train and provide appropriate implementations. It is clearly too early to make a prediction about how well the Nintendo Switch is accepted by the fans, even if Nintendo is currently from locked.

If the console stays in the conversation thanks to enthusiastic fans, the numbers of the available titles will also rise and the game base, the Nintendo will continue to hold the pole or continue to buy the console. So it runs now and these rules must also – or just – hold Nintendo.
