Thursday Assassin’s Creed Valhalla received patch 1.0.4 on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PlayStation 5: and that same evening, on our Twitch channel, we tested it on Microsoft’s flagship console, to see how the new “Quality mode worked.”, and if Ubisoft had intervened to solve the annoying problem of screen tearing.
From our experience, and also from the feedback that users are expressing online, the situation seems to have improved a lot in this sense.
As for the “Quality mode” in 4K at 30 fps, let’s say that for our preferences the game earns more from a higher frame rate, also because it has gained a lot in terms of stability. And in this sense, the addition of 60 FPS for the “Performance mode” on Series S is pleasing.
And on PlayStation 5 instead? If the game had shown less criticality from the beginning, this patch apparently seems to have had the opposite effect: many users have reported a deterioration in performance following the update, with particular reference to the frame rate.
At present, a “scientific” analysis of the changes introduced and of any negative effects has not yet been carried out. while waiting for Digital Foundry to have its say, what was your experience with the game? Did the situation remain the same, did it improve or even worsen after the patch arrived?
