The best PC games of 2018 so far

2018 aims to be a year of many games, and also very good, so we thought it was convenient to start as soon as possible to collect the jewels that the industry is giving us in these first months. But of course, as we put on, it was not too much to review also everything that will come, which is not exactly little.

Said and done, here is a review of the best PC games of 2018 for PC (although Mac and Linux users can also find the odd jewel). A look at what is to come and what will continue to complete the catalog during the coming months.

The best games of 2018 already available on PC

From everything that has come up to date for PC, this is what we have selected as the best:

Dragon Ball FighterZ

‘Dragon Ball FighterZ’ is the game we’ve been waiting for for years, a fantastic fighting title that places its creators, Arc System Works, as absolute favorites to end the bad run that the animation series had in the world of video games.

Light blue

Here we are much ahead of the GOTY and, as far as 2018, we have already named a couple of them. The most charismatic one is ‘Celeste’, a little silver jewel that has managed to win our hearts based on good mechanics, variety and a story in which everything is not what it seems.

Age of Empires: Definitive Edition

The ‘Age of Empires: Definitive Edition’ was one of the most anticipated releases of the year and, although, with reservations, the nostalgic factor has helped to get a place among the best of the year. Just to remember the good times that he gave us in our youth, is already a more than recommended option.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance

‘Kingdom Come: Deliverance’ has begun its trajectory stumbling, with fairly sounding errors and polarizing the critics, but based on updates and improvements all that will change and, over time, it is more than likely to become a cult title as today is ‘Skyrim’.

The most anticipated PC games in 2018

We are now going to the games that are about to arrive or, failing that, those that have started with an Advance Access version and will offer their final release sometime in 2018.

Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire

  • Release date: April 3
  • Price: 45.99 euros

Obsidian wants to return to the chair and, after raising more than three million dollars seems to want to go all out with the new ‘Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire’. No doubt it is one of the RPG that will go head to many lists of GOTY, and that is based on a good narrative and a bag of news and changes, it is very likely that it deserves it.

World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth

  • Release date: September 21
  • Price: 44.99 euros

Presented during the BlizzCon 2017, the new expansion of what was for a long time the star game of Blizzard will arrive later this year. With the name of ‘World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth’, the seventh expansion promises new allies, races, scenarios, and endless challenges. Of all, the one that best paints are the one that will pay tribute to the mechanics of the original ‘Warcraft’.

Sea of Thieves

  • Release date: March 20
  • Price: 59.94 euros

Probably the most important release of Xbox One this year and, as a gift, also one of the biggest PC. ‘Sea of Thieves’ is Rare wanting to hit a punch on the table again, this time with an open world full of pirates that invite us to create a crew with our friends and sail the seas in search of treasures.

Crackdown 3

  • Release date: spring of 2018
  • Price: 62.94 euros

‘Crackdown 3’ is probably the title of the list that generates the most doubts. What has been seen of him is the right thing and he has suffered a lot of delays, so the only nail to blaze that we grab him is the need for Microsoft to do things right this year. Of course, if everything goes smoothly, it will undoubtedly be one of the most important action games of 2018

Pit People

  • Release date: March 2
  • Price: 14.99 euros

Presented an eternity ago, ‘Pit People’ is new to The Behemoth, the titans behind games like ‘Castle Crashers’. Maintaining his particular humor, he proposes a strategy game on a board in which our characters will have to pupate opposites. In spite of the simple nature of the proposal, it manages to offer glimmers of brand originality of the house, which makes it a candy for those of us who are fans of the studio.

State of Decay 2

  • Release date: 2018
  • Price: 62.94 euros

‘State of Decay 2’ passes Olympians of fashion and, when the zombie theme is already more than exhausted, he arrives to show that there is still work to be done. The first one achieved the same milestone in a masterful way, especially for a low budget game, so there is great hope that they will repeat that success again.

Far Cry 5

  • Release date: March 27
  • Price: 63.90 euros

Ubisoft wants to make ‘Far Cry 5’ the most rambunctious and crazy delivery of the saga, so it takes us to redneck territory for us to see the faces with a sect that is terrorizing the staff. A lot of action, a lot of map with a lot of icon and, the great asset of this delivery, the possibility of enjoying it from beginning to end in cooperative.

Abandon Ship

  • Release date: 2018
  • Price: 16,99 euros

Already in early access and with a final release planned for this year, ‘Abandon Ship’ is the successor of the mythical Faster Than Light, better known by its acronym ‘FTL’. The difference is that here we leave behind the spaceships and what to sail galaxies to control a ship and travel the seas.

  • Release date: 2018
  • Price: 54.95 euros

He arrived without us knowing, creating a brutal commotion and even provoking that THQ Nordic was encouraged to buy the license and the studio that was behind. ‘Biomutant’ has become one of the great hopes of this 2018, but it also has a weight and responsibility on its back that will be difficult to manage. We wish you the best.

Exodus Metro

  • Release date: end of 2018
  • Price: 60.99 euros

‘Metro Exodus’ fell in love with everyone with its official presentation at E3 2017, but now it’s the hardest part, take that cinematic past through gameplay and turn it into reality. It will be difficult, but not even the downgrade can take away the desire to return to this rich and intriguing universe.

Frozen Synapse 2

  • Release date: 2018
  • Price: To be confirmed

The first was a brutal strategy game, a minimalist title that was enough to dazzle based on mechanics and an aesthetic as simple as a cane. In the worst case ‘Frozen Synapse 2’ will be more of the same, and knowing what level had its predecessor, even that would be taken as a very big news.

Age of Empires IV

  • Release date: 2018
  • Price: To be confirmed

We close with ‘Age of Empires IV’, the game that has ahead to show us that the time (and the disappearance of its mother studio) has not played a trick on the saga. Of him, we do not know until his atmosphere, but everything indicates that he will follow the thread seen to date and will begin to play with tanks and other war machines.
