Windows 10 21H2

Windows 10 21H2 “Sun Valley” will be a facelift for Windows

It may seem that there is still a long way to go for the arrival of Windows 10 21H2, AKA Sun Valley, AKA Windows 10 2110, but the truth is that in Redmond they have already been working for a long time on the news that the second major update of Windows 10 will bring us in this recently opened in 2021 (it is still strange to write it), and as we know, it seems increasingly clear that the strong point of this update, which will arrive at the end of this year, will be in the graphic section.

One of the main sources to confirm that Windows 10 21H2 will mean an important change in terms of its interface can be found in a job offer published today by Microsoft. A job offer for a senior engineer and from which we extract the following text (which has been modified a posteriori):

“ On this team, you will work with our key platform, Surface, and OEM partners to orchestrate and deliver a radical visual rejuvenation of Windows experiences to signal to our customers that Windows is RETURNED and ensure that Windows is considered the best operating system experience for the user for the clients ”.

With this job offer pointing, for times, to Windows 10 21H2, there are several conclusions that we can draw, and all of them are quite interesting. The first is that added to the confirmation that we will have Windows 10 21H1, it points out that although some rumors pointed in the opposite direction, it is likely that finally, 2021 will see two important updates to Windows, April 2104 and Windows 10 21H2, which should arrive between October and November of this year, but for which we still do not have any official confirmation.

And another interesting conclusion to which we can reach knowing this is that, unlike the latest updates, in which there has been some change in the graphic section but in which the weight has been on the functions of the operating system, the operation of the same and, of course, to polish some problems. However, more and more signs point to Microsoft being aware that its operating system needs a facelift, and Windows 10 21H2 could be the answer to that need.

What changes will Windows 10 21H2 bring?

One of the main sources of information about what future Windows updates will bring us are the trial versions that it is releasing among insiders, and that allows the company to evaluate both the reception and the operation of the changes. Observing the functions and the changes that are shown in these channels, we obtain the pieces of a puzzle, which help us to put together a global composition of what is to come.

In this regard, and adding rumors and changes, we have a first photo in which we see new functions that will arrive with Windows 10 21H2, including the following:

  • Battery usage graphs.
  • Camera configuration settings.
  • App file for unused wings: app data will be preserved and the app will be updated to the full version on next use.
  • Taskbar settings.
  • Cleaning, storage, and other recommendations.

If the forecasts are met, the first builds of Windows 10 21H2 should start to see the light of day in the test environments sometime in February. However, and except for surprise, it does not seem that the great news regarding the graphical interface will arrive soon. Today’s job offer indicates that there is still a lot of work to be done in this regard, and therefore we will most likely have to wait a few more months for Sun Valley to start showing itself in all its glory.
