Apple could resurrect the MagSafe in the future with this patent

When Apple introduced the 2015 MacBook, it was a time when the company turned the page.

It left behind several elements that had been branded of the house in its products. Among them were the apple backlit on the top of each laptop, USB-A connections and the impossible to forget MagSafe.

A year and a half later, the same changes came to the next generation of MacBook Pro. Now, an Apple patent gives us hope about an officially resurrected MagSafe. Although with a small (or large) “but”.

An adapter to recover the MagSafe

The loss of the MagSafe was corroborated with the new MacBook Pro. The only models currently marketed with this charger are the 13-inch MacBook Air and the previous generation 13 and 15-inch MacBook Pro.

Anyone who has spent some time with Windows laptops and uses an Apple will have learned to appreciate this connector. Because they have been responsible for saving more than one team from an accidental fall.

However, as we know, MagSafe is not present in the company’s most current laptops. Apple believes that its equipment has enough battery to stand all day, to be recharged later in the evening. Just like an iPhone.

For those users who do miss the magnetic connector, Apple has been scanning a MagSafe to USB-C adapter. The upper image shows a capture in the application made to the US Patent Office ( USPTO ). It is an adapter that would fit into a USB-C port with which we could use old Apple chargers.

This is not the first time we see a similar idea. A few months ago Pedro Aznar analyzed a similar Griffin connector called BreakSafe. Unlike this accessory that can be purchased, Apple is still a patent that could remain in that state indefinitely.
