Samsung Galaxy S8: Notice about cleaning the camera because the fingerprint scanner is positioned incorrectly

Samsung has basically confirmed that the fingerprint scanner on the back of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus is positioned incorrectly next to the camera. That is why there is a special reference for the users.

Samsung Galaxy S8: Fingerprint scanner in the wrong place

As much as we like the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus, a decision from Samsung, we can still not understand the position of the fingerprint scanner.

Since there is no more space for a Home button at the front, where the fingerprint scanner was integrated with its predecessors, the South Korean company decided to ban the fingerprint sensor on the back. Huawei and LG have shown that this works very well on various smartphones.

With the Galaxy S8 smartphones, the scanner sits next to the camera and not in the middle. This will create problems, which is why Samsung has integrated a hint.

The smartphone recognizes when the camera is dirty on the back and reminds the user to clean it. Samsung is therefore absolutely aware that many users with the pointing finger first touch the camera in the middle before the fingerprint scanner is found.

To make matters worse, the position is different depending on the hand used. If you use your left hand, you have to use your finger to move over the camera lens to unlock the smartphone. With the right hand, you have to orientate more on the edge. This is not really intuitive.

Iris scanner and facial recognition as an alternative?

If you do not want to use the fingerprint scanner, you can unlock the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus via the iris scanner and the face recognition. But there are also great disadvantages.

The Iris scanner is safe, but you have to keep your smartphone relatively close to your face. The face recognition is absolutely insecure and can be tricked out with a photo.

Both methods have to wake up the smartphone, while the fingerprint scanner not only unlocks the smartphone but also wakes it up.
